I was trying to think of inexpensive ways to make my dog’s tummy happy. Dog treats have gotten so pricey and the ingredients are well, down right nasty at times. So I experimented on my own and made a tasty little treat that Fido would enjoy.
I used leftover chicken broth. We have a slow cooker and cook a chicken in it for one of our dinners. Well, when you take the chicken out what’s left in the pot is chicken bits and watery broth stuff. Yummy. Not for you but for your pup it sure is. You could probably use a store made chicken broth but I would careful about the amount of sodium they have and if they use spices in it. Read those labels carefully.
1.5 cups of chicken broth
1.25 cups of all purpose flour
1 cup of organic oats
1 organic egg
1 TBS of grounded raw pumpkin seeds (optional, of course. Pumpkin seeds are good for the digestive track.)
I mixed this mesh o’ food together and fired up the oven to 375 degrees. Pace the mixture on 2 non-stick cookie trays and pop them in to bake for about 20 minutes. Flip them and them let the cookies bake for 20 more. They don’t look pretty. At all. But my dog doesn’t seem to care 😉
