Ventura Malbec Organic Wine Time
Malbec wines make my mouth water. The first time I tried a Malbec I thought it was a blend of wines. I didn’t really know anything about them. I just knew it tasted so smooth and rich in flavor without the bitter dryness. Malbec wine is kind of a hybrid of a Cab Sav and a Merlot. The blend of grapes gives it that plum-y flavor. I haven’t found too many Malbec organic wines so when I stumbled upon Ventura Malbec 2007 in the organic section I jumped up and down with joy was excited.
This bottle can be yours for less than $12 and I found it in my local grocery store. It has a very deep purple color and a fruity aroma. But when you take your first sip there is this spicy-ness that you don’t expect with a Malbec. Like a pepper blast to your taste buds. Don’t get me wrong, this was pretty tasty, I just wasn’t expecting the little bit of heat. This Malbec is from Chile and man, do Chileans know how to spice up a wine taste! It would go great with a rich meat, like steak, pork or some other heavy dish. After your first couple of sips the plum/fruity flavor comes out a tad more and the finish is smooth.
