This juice is a quick pick-me-up in the morning or in the afternoon. It’s quick to make and tastes delicious.

Here we go:

4 organic carrots
3 organic celery stalks
1 organic cucumber
1 beet

I’m not usually the biggest fan of beets, but lately I’ve been diggin’ on ‘em a bit more. Maybe I’m getting used to their unique earthy flavor, or the other veggies in my juice are overpowering with their own flavors. Who knows, but try these other beet juice recipes — click here, here and here.

I don’t think it’s necessary to say that … Read the rest

Raw Revolution Organic Live Food Bar Cashew & Agave Nectar

Raw Revolution Bars are tasty. More than tasty. They fill up my belly a little and quench my need for sugar. I heart sugar, and I will totally swear to you that my body actually needs it. But that doesn’t mean I want to stuff my face full of Little Debbies. I used to, though, before I began reading about the food I was putting into my mouth. I used to loooove the Little Debbie Oatmeal Cream Pie snacks. Let’s just do a little comparison of the ingredients for that and then the Raw Revolution Cashew & Agave Nectar Bar, … Read the rest

Juicing: Apple and Spinach Juice

I like spinach. Like, a lot. However, I only like to eat spinach, not drink it. So I decided to pair it with some sweet apples to help me forget I was drinking green nast. Why would I try and drink my spinach, you ask? For the most part, it was on it’s way to becoming mush in my fridge, plus I was curious as to how bad it would taste. Also, spinach has something called nutrients and vitamins in it too. For example, spinach contains: Vitamins B, C, E and K. As well as magnsium and iron. Maybe I … Read the rest

Cooked Bulgur Wheat for Breakfast, a Healthy Grain

Cereal doesn’t fill me up in the mornings. I eat a couple of bowls and I’m hungry again a couple hours later. Oh, woe is me. So a gal pal of mine told me to try bulgur. Bulgar contains numerous vitamins and minerals which will give you a jump start for the day. What’s actually so good about it, you ask? Well, how ’bout some folate, niacin, phosphorus, copper, zinc, magnesium and manganese. … Read the rest

Samuel Smith’s Organically Produced Lager Beer

Samuel Smith

For those of you who are not familiar with Mr. Samuel Smith’s organic beers, allow me to introduce you. Samuel Smith’s is a small independent British brewery. It was established in 1758 and it’s also Yorkshire’s oldest brewery. Cool, huh? Samuel Smith Brewery offers a variety of ales, stouts, fruit flavored, porters, pale ales, ciders and more. What attracted me to this beer was the fact that it’s organic. That, and it comes in a big pretty bottle. But seriously, I like the fact that this beer is grown without the use of artificial fertilizers or chemical sprays. Oh … Read the rest

Sulfite free and organic wine

People keep asking me about Sulfite Free wines. Which ones are good? How do you know if the wine is Sulfite Free? Are sulfite free wines organic too? Well, the answers to those questions are: Lots. It says. And sometimes.

Let me give you the run down. Organic wines mean no pesticides, herbicides, chemical fertilizers or synthetic chemicals of any kind are permitted to be used on the grape vines or in the soil.  Also, organic wines use waaaaaay less sulfites. As in, practically none compared to other non-organic wines.  Here’s a blurb on the definition between “No Sulfites Added” … Read the rest
