Live-a-Little Organic and Fairtrade Red Wine

Posted by on Friday, 3 August, 2012

I found this hidden gem at Binnys in Chicago. Live-a-Little Really Ravishing Red is an organic and fairtrade red blend from South Africa. Stella Winery is behind this really fantastic and smooth red. In fact, Stella Winery was awarded the first ever Fairtrade certification from FLO e.V in 2011. Nice work, right?

What exactly is Fair Trade? Simply put, it’s where all parties involved are treated, well, fairly. Fair in price. Fair in environmental and ethical practices. Very cool. If you would like to read more about Stella Winery and their fair trade practices, click here.

This smoothie gives you a power punch of sustainable energy to start your day with and to keep you going too. You can literally add some chia seeds to any thing without an overpowering taste. I like it because it adds a little crunch to things. To rad more about the benefits of chia seeds, click here.

Vegan Orange Banana Smoothie

Posted by on Sunday, 13 May, 2012

This is the perfect pick me up with good fats, vitamins and minerals. Instead of putting yogurt or milk in, like I do with most of my smoothies, I only added water, but also Coconut Oil. I wanted a little something extra with good fats while adding a little sweetness.

2 Bananas
1 Orange
1 Tablespoon of Coconut Oil
1/2 Cup H2O
4 Ice cubes

Toss all this into your blender and in, oh, about 30 seconds you will have some heavenly bliss. Yummm.
