Reed’s All Natural Cherry Ginger Brew Ale

Posted by on Friday, 25 March, 2011

I love Reed’s Original Ginger Brew Ale. I love it so much that I don’t even call it soda, I call it Reed’s. It usually goes like this: a friend asks for a soda and I say I don’t have any soda, but I have a Reed’s.

I like Reed’s Ginger Ale for the fact that it’s not full of garbage. Just natural heavenly good stuff that makes a mean ginger brew. So I decided to try out their Cherry Ginger Brew Ale. And I have to say, it’s only okay. Don’t get me wrong, it is still waaaay … Read the rest

Sobon Estate Zinfandel Organic Wine 2006

Posted by on Tuesday, 15 February, 2011

I tried a new organic red wine the other day from California. Amador County to be exact. It’s a 2006 Rocky Top Zinfandel made from organically grown grapes. The alcohol content is 14.2% and the cost is around 12 bucks. While this wine does contain sulfites, here is a blurb from their website on why they use the amount of sulfites they do.

“The wines are made by conventional means using a minimum of sulfites to preserve freshness and color. At bottling, our wine contains between 15-20 parts per million free sulfites, which diminish after several months in the bottle. … Read the rest

Old Hands 2007 Monastrell Organic Red Wine

Posted by on Tuesday, 18 January, 2011

Old Hands 2007 Monastrell Organic Red Wine is a product from Spain.  On the bottle it says, “Old Hands is made from low yield naturally grown Monastrell grapes harvested by hand from very low yield old bush vines which grow on the high, dry, windswept plateau of Yelca where they are naturally protected from pests and mildew.”   Very cool  that no pesticides or herbicides are used in the cultivating of these grapes.  Old Hands also proudly supports Autism research.  Wow, a winery that cares about something more than themselves. Very cool x 2.

Santa Julia Organica Malbec 2009

Posted by on Tuesday, 4 January, 2011

I like the simple things in life.  You know, rain drops on roses, whiskers on kittens and cheap organic red wine.  This is where Santa Julia wine comes into play. This organic Malbec is produced by Familia Zuccardi.  They own and run a vineyard and winery in Mendoza, Argentina.  This winery found it’s beginning  in 1963 by Alberto V. Zuccardi, but is now operated by the son, José Alberto Zuccardi.

What makes this wine so great is that it’s made with 100% organic grapes without breaking the bank.  This organic malbec will run you around $10.  And if that’s not … Read the rest

Bonterra Cabernet Sauvignon 2008 Organic Wine

Posted by on Tuesday, 14 December, 2010

I’ve tried another Bonterra Wine before but it was a Chardonnay white.  And I liked it, so I thought I would give their Cab Sav a go.  Usually I love, love, love Cab Savs.  Like, a lot.  But this one, in MY opinion, was a little sub par.  Most Cab Savs are such full bodied wines with fruity flavor and with this one, I thought, not so much.  It was simply okay.  Even though Bonterra’s organic wine run under $15 a bottle, I would prefer to spend my hard earned cash on something a little more tasty.

It did … Read the rest

Organic Cherry Fruit Ale Beer

Posted by on Monday, 14 June, 2010

I like beer.  And I also like fruit.  So why not put them together?  Well, that’s at least what  the Samuel Smith Brewery thought.  This beer is made with organic wheat and organic barley combined with the tartness of organic cherry juice in this one of a kind fruit ale.
I’ve never had a fruit ale before and man, oh man, was this ever fruity!  My girlfriend and I decided to split it, just in case we didn’t like it, we only had one bottle of it and I wanted to be fair.
It comes in a heavy dark … Read the rest
