Frey California Organic White Natural Table Wine Sulfite Free

Frey wine is good for 2 things:  a palatable table wine and wine that contains NO sulfites. Sulfites are not necessary for good wine making. To read more about sulfites and what Frey thinks about them and all that funky junk click here.

What I also  like about Frey wine is that it’s cheap. There’s not that many organic, sulfite free wines running you around $8 out there.  The only other no sulfite detected wine that comes to mind is La Rocca. But for La Rocca goodness it’s more around $13. If it was a battle between which … Read the rest

Sobon Estate 2006 Organic Zinfandel Rocky Top Red Wine

I tried a new organic red wine the other day from California. Amador County to be exact. It’s a 2006 Rocky Top Zinfandel made from organically grown grapes. The alcohol content is 14.2% and the cost is around 12 bucks. While this wine does contain sulfites, here is a blurb from their website on why they use the amount of sulfites they do.

“The wines are made by conventional means using a minimum of sulfites to preserve freshness and color. At bottling, our wine contains between 15-20 parts per million free sulfites, which diminish after several months in the bottle. … Read the rest

Orleans Hill Cote Zero Organic California Red Wine

Ahhh, time once again to talk about Orleans Hill wine.  I like this brand of wine and pretty much celebrate their whole catalog.  To see other Orleans Hill wines that I have more than enjoyed click here and here.

I’ll keep this post short and sweet:  Orleans Hill wine is good.  No sulfites detected and it’s organic.  Not bad for a California Red.  The color is a rich purple and the flavor is somewhat complex.  It’s earthy and berry all while being very light and dry.  Orleans Hill Cote Zero is a Rhône-styled blend of Syrah (gives the … Read the rest

Bonterra 2008 Cabernet Savignon Organic Wine

I’ve tried another Bonterra Wine before but it was a Chardonnay white.  And I liked it, so I thought I would give their Cab Sav a go.  Usually I love, love, love Cab Savs.  Like, a lot.  But this one, in MY opinion, was a little sub par.  Most Cab Savs are such full bodied wines with fruity flavor and with this one, I thought, not so much.  It was simply okay.  Even though Bonterra’s organic wine run under $15 a bottle, I would prefer to spend my hard earned cash on something a little more tasty.

It did … Read the rest

Organic Wine La Rocca Cabernet Sauvignon Sulfite Free

My friends and I all love wine.  Personally, I enjoy the reds but I really haven’t met a wine I would say no to.  So, this Summer my mission is clear… I want to find AND enjoy some wines that are organic and possibly with no added sulfites.  Organic wines mean no pesticides, herbicides, chemical fertilizers or synthetic chemicals of any kind are permitted to be used on the grape vines or in the soil.  Also, organic wines use less sulfites.  Let me make this clear, ALL wines have sulfites.  It’s true.  What’s also true is that it would only … Read the rest
