Ahhh, time once again to talk about Orleans Hill wine. I like this brand of wine and pretty much celebrate their whole catalog. To see other Orleans Hill wines that I have more than enjoyed click here and here.
I’ll keep this post short and sweet: Orleans Hill wine is good. No sulfites detected and it’s organic. Not bad for a California Red. The color is a rich purple and the flavor is somewhat complex. It’s earthy and berry all while being very light and dry. Orleans Hill Cote Zero is a Rhône-styled blend of Syrah (gives the … Read the rest

I’ve tried another Bonterra Wine before but it was a Chardonnay white. And I liked it, so I thought I would give their Cab Sav a go. Usually I love, love, love Cab Savs. Like, a lot. But this one, in MY opinion, was a little sub par. Most Cab Savs are such full bodied wines with fruity flavor and with this one, I thought, not so much. It was simply okay. Even though Bonterra’s organic wine run under $15 a bottle, I would prefer to spend my hard earned cash on something a little more tasty.
It did … Read the rest

There are some brands of wine that I buy without reading what kind it is. This certainly goes for Orleans Hill wine. It’s organic and with no added sulfites. Sounds good enough to me. Plus, I know I enjoy some varieties already. I hadn’t tried the Zinfandel kind yet and I was looking forward to it. And it doesn’t hurt that this particular brand of wines easily runs you less than $15 and sometimes if there’s a sale at your grocery store less than $10. Nice, right?
When it can time to pop the cork, I was left a … Read the rest

It’s Wine-Time again, get excited!
I live in the wonderful city of Green Bay but it does become not-so-wonderful around January to March-ish due to the icy weather. So what’s a girl to do to keep her warm and toasty inside?? No, not long underwear, try again… WINE. Red wine. And this new one I tried is pretty damn good. OKO is A-OKAY.
OKO is defined as ÖKO
[ÖKO: ökologie > ecology > the interrelationships of organisms in the environment]: The tree, a symbol of nature and life, provides the necessary oxygen for all things in the world to survive.… Read the rest

My oh my, is this wine tasty. Releaf is a blend of 3 different types of reds. It’s mostly a Cab Sav, but here is the percentages to be more on the exact side. 50% Cab Sav, 30% Merlot, and 20% Shiraz. This particular wine is produced in South Africa and has an alcohol content of 13.5%.
As for how this tastes, let’s just say this organic red goes down real easy. You can defintely taste the blackberry and cherry flavors while the shiraz in it gives it that little hint of spice in the end. And you know how … Read the rest

Ladies and Gentlemen, allow me to introduce the wine winner of the “Wine of the Week” from the Santa Rosa Press Democrat. This award was based upon a blind taste test of 10 other organic red wines. What also makes this an awesome feat is that this particular wine is the cheapest out of all 10. Cheap as in less than 10 bucks. And less than 10 is good people; my money tree in the backyard is not growing those greenbacks like it should! Another thing I found interesting is that is also won against a Bonterra Cabernet. I haven’t … Read the rest

Malbec wines make my mouth water. The first time I tried a Malbec I thought it was a blend of wines. I didn’t really know anything about them. I just knew it tasted so smooth and rich in flavor without the bitter dryness. Malbec wine is kind of a hybrid of a Cab Sav and a Merlot. The blend of grapes gives it that plum-y flavor. I haven’t found too many Malbec organic wines so when I stumbled upon Ventura Malbec 2007 in the organic section I jumped up and down with joy was excited.
This bottle can be yours … Read the rest

Normally, I’m a red girl but I won’t say no to whites. I like whites, I do but sometimes they make a little rumbly in my tumbly. They’re too sweet and it kinda turns my stomach. Anyway, I was in the mood for chilled wine on a hot summer day so I grabbed a bottle of Bonterra Chardonnay. It’s organic, that means it is made with organically grown grapes. Which that means, no pesticides, herbicides, chemical fertilizers or synthetic chemicals of any kind are permitted to be used on the grape vines or in the soil. Awesome.

When I lived in Chicago I would drink Orleans Hill wine sometimes. It was organic and contained no added sulfites. Less sulfites makes for less headaches and less fire knees. WTF are fire knees, you ask? Well, some of the side effects of sulfite-filled wines are: headaches, cramps, flushed face and/or body and in some cases even hives. One of my girlfriends get really really hot knees. Fire knees, in fact. When she told me of her problem, I laughed and called her crazy. Then I looked at her knees, they were bright red and when I touched them they … Read the rest

Candoni Merlot, an Organic Wine with No Sulfites Added
It was a night filled with laziness, TV and wine. Sometimes, that’s the perfect evening. I picked out this wine solely based on the fact that it was organic. That, and it was less than 15 bucks. Both nice things. The laziness was me, the TV was 30 Rock and the wine was Candoni, an organic merlot. It’s an Italian wine with no sulfites added. I like the part of no sulfites added. That means my girlfriend who gets fire knees can drink merrily with me and enjoy 30 Rock … Read the rest
