I love Reed’s Original Ginger Brew Ale. I love it so much that I don’t even call it soda, I call it Reed’s. It usually goes like this: a friend asks for a soda and I say I don’t have any soda, but I have a Reed’s.
I like Reed’s Ginger Ale for the fact that it’s not full of garbage. Just natural heavenly good stuff that makes a mean ginger brew. So I decided to try out their Cherry Ginger Brew Ale. And I have to say, it’s only okay. Don’t get me wrong, it is still waaaay … Read the rest

It’s really hard to find gluten-free beer. But so far, in my sweet town of Green Bay, I’ve found 2: Redbridge and New Grist. New Grist is the creation from Lakefront Brewery located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. To read all about Lakefront Brewery click here.
New Grist, as I said, is gluten-free and the ingredients are: Sorghum and Rice Extract, Yeast, H2O and Hops.
New Grist is very light tasting, but that’s what I like. I am so not the heavy beer drinker. And after the first one I have a nice little buzzing goin’ on too. With the other … Read the rest

I may be a little of a ginger ale snob since I got hooked on Reed’s but I thought I would give Blue Sky a try seeing how I like some of their other sodas. And I’m sorry I did. Blue Sky Natural Soda Jamaican Ginger Ale is so freakin’ sugary tasting that you can hardly enjoy the ginger part. It’s not that added so much more sugar to this soda but the proportions are waaaaayy off.
The ingredients are: Filtered Carbonated H2O, Real Sugar, Natural Ginger Flavor, Citric Acid and Carmel Color.
The ingredients for Reed’s are: Sparkling filtered … Read the rest

Frey wine is good for 2 things: a palatable table wine and wine that contains NO sulfites. Sulfites are not necessary for good wine making. To read more about sulfites and what Frey thinks about them and all that funky junk click here.
What I also like about Frey wine is that it’s cheap. There’s not that many organic, sulfite free wines running you around $8 out there. The only other no sulfite detected wine that comes to mind is La Rocca. But for La Rocca goodness it’s more around $13. If it was a battle between which … Read the rest

I tried a new organic red wine the other day from California. Amador County to be exact. It’s a 2006 Rocky Top Zinfandel made from organically grown grapes. The alcohol content is 14.2% and the cost is around 12 bucks. While this wine does contain sulfites, here is a blurb from their website on why they use the amount of sulfites they do.
“The wines are made by conventional means using a minimum of sulfites to preserve freshness and color. At bottling, our wine contains between 15-20 parts per million free sulfites, which diminish after several months in the bottle. … Read the rest

Not enough can be said about Blue Sky. They make Natural soda, Organic Soda, Diet soda and more. I’m not too into the diet ones, they have little flavor, but I do like their Natural and Organic ones. This new one I tried is called Orange Divine. When I was a little kid I used to LOVE grape soda and orange soda. Don’t ask me why, I was a gross kid. Well, it’s a good thing that Blue Sky has taken it upon themselves to make me my grape and orange soda but in a better way. Better … Read the rest

Redbridge is my first ever gluten-free beer. The problem I have with wheat beers is NOTHING compared to someone with Celiacs Disease or some other problem like a food allergy but if I drink something like a Blue Moon, just call me Pass Gas Priscilla. It seriously keeps me up at night, and this little mama needs her beauty sleep. Even if you’re saying, “Gross. Beer doesn’t bother me like that at all” I still suggest you try this beer. Maybe you could give your body a break from all that work to process hard grains.
Redbridge has somewhat an … Read the rest

Old Hands 2007 Monastrell Organic Red Wine is a product from Spain. On the bottle it says, “Old Hands is made from low yield naturally grown Monastrell grapes harvested by hand from very low yield old bush vines which grow on the high, dry, windswept plateau of Yelca where they are naturally protected from pests and mildew.” Very cool that no pesticides or herbicides are used in the cultivating of these grapes. Old Hands also proudly supports Autism research. Wow, a winery that cares about something more than themselves. Very cool x 2.

A friend of mine brought over a sixer of beer. I’ve never seen or heard of this Organic Porter brand either so I was pleasantly surprised to try something new. It’s a certified organic Porter by Eel River Brewing Company. Here’s a little trivia tidbit for you; this is America’s 1st, I’ll repeat that, 1st Certified Organic Brewing Company. How cool is that?! Very cool. And, and, this company practices sustainable brewing. Back to the beer…
This Certified Organic Porter is 5.8% alcohol by volume and is a rich brown in color. It tastes like chocolate with a … Read the rest

It’s Santa Cruz Time! Woo Hoo! Man, oh man I do love this brand of bubbly pop. I just think the company is on the right track, you know. Read about their environmental commitment here. Aside from the goodness that they try to do I really like the ingredients they use for soda. I know, I know, why drink soda if it’s so bad for you. Well, you know what? I’m not perfect. There I said it. Sometimes I crave a soda like nothin’ else. So I try to at least put the better bad stuff in my body. Call … Read the rest
